Hundreds of community members gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the Clark Park Community Center & Pool in Tempe last weekend. The event was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, free games, activities, face painting, and open swim, as reported by 12News.
The new Clark Park Community Center is now operational seven days a week, offering classes and programs for all ages, with rooms available for meetings and events. The accompanying pool is open for lap and open swim until May 25, with summer hours beginning on May 26. More information on hours and admission fees can be found on the city's website.
In another celebration, Tempe's Household Products Collection Center (HPCC) marked its 25th anniversary. The HPCC, a drive-thru facility for household hazardous waste disposal and recycling, has been serving the community since it first opened on Earth Day in 1999.
Tempe also announced the opening of applications for the Tempe Leadership 2024-2025 class, as the program marks its 40th year. The initiative aims to attract, develop, educate, and empower individuals in Tempe through its leadership program.
Additionally, the city expressed gratitude towards water professionals and afterschool professionals during Arizona Water Professionals Week and Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week. The officials highlighted the importance of clean and sustainable water efforts and recognized the significant role of professionals in the community.
Furthermore, a drug take-back event is scheduled for this Saturday at the Hardy Substation, providing an opportunity for the safe disposal of unused medications. Residents are encouraged to participate in the Be Kind to Your Mind 5K Walk/Run in support of Mental Health Awareness Month on May 11 at Kiwanis Park.
Tempe residents can also look forward to music performances at the Music Under the Stars event on April 26 and experience the Light Lane art installation until April 30 at various locations in the city.
