This Saturday: Poolapalooza

Join Tempe Aquatics for Poolapalooza on Saturday, July 13, from 6-9 p.m. at McClintock Pool. Play games, swim, enjoy music and frozen treats, and win prizes. Admission is free. Capacity is limited, first come, first served.

Summer hours at Tempe's outdoor pools will go through July 21. Starting the week of July 22, Kiwanis Wave Pool will be open every Saturday and Sunday, 1-5 p.m. through Labor Day.

July 27 will be the last day to enjoy Escalante Pool (1-5 p.m.) and McClintock Pool (6-9 p.m.) before they close for the season. Clark Park Pool will be open on Sunday, July 28, 1-5 p.m.

Tempe’s splash pads are open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. through October.

Don't forget to pick up your Summer Reading prizes

Summer Reading is in full swing at Tempe Public Library! Log your minutes through Aug. 1 to win prizes.

1 minute = 1 point! Any reading counts: books, e-books, audiobooks, magazines.

Participate in activities and challenges to earn extra points.

Win prizes when you reach 250 points, 500 points, 750 points, and 1,000 points.

Youth, teens and adults are all invited to participate! The library offers special programs for each age group.

New this year: Super Summer Saturday! Every Saturday through July 13, stop by the library for free drop-in crafts for the entire family.

This Friday, from 10-10:30 a.m.: Milo and Moxie Smart Safety Ranger Program

Learn about fire safety and burn prevention with this special storytime. Tempe Fire will also be giving out activity books and stickers. For preschool through second graders.

Only two Tempe Time Machine sessions left

Join Tempe Time Machine on a hunt for history! Kids and their grownups learn with free crafts, stories, activities and live demonstrations.

The program runs every Wednesday through July 17 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Admission is free and registration is not required. While our focus is on kids from ages two to ten years old, Tempe Time Machine is fun for all ages.

Upcoming programs:

July 10 - How Do Kids Play? The Chandler Yoyo Club will show off their best tricks with performances at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and noon while teaching yoyo skills throughout the session.

July 17 - How Do Kids Get Places? Sing along with local favorite Haley Green at various times during the day. Travel tips and giveaways from Valley Metro will also be available along with layouts from Grand Canyon Model Railroaders.

Indoor play continues through July 17

Tweens and Teens ages ten to fifteen are invited to hang out with the Play Mobile team through July 17!

Make-It Mondays at Cahill Senior Center

Wavy Wednesdays at Kiwanis Wave Pool

Throwback Thursdays at Clark Park Community Center

Tempe Lifeguards host World’s Largest Swim Lesson

Tempe Aquatics participated in the World’s Largest Swim Lesson event designed to build awareness around teaching children how to swim. More than twenty-five participants joined worldwide efforts at Escalante Pool.

Donate Bottled Water in July

Support the city’s HOPE homeless outreach team this summer by donating bottled water throughout July at designated drop-off locations including Hundred Mile Brewing Company and several churches in the area.

Noise Makers & Back-to-School Celebration

Saturday, July 13 from ten a.m.-two p.m.

Tempe Center for the Arts

Join artist-in-residence Kristen Miologos to create noise makers using household objects while receiving free art supply bags for children.

Summer Reading with Jungle Jill

Saturday, July20 from two-three p.m.

Tempe Public Library

Jungle Jill will present eight different animals from around the world; all ages welcome.

Dinosaurs: An Adventure Through Time

Saturday ,July27 from two-three p.m.

Tempe Public Library

Learn about prehistoric animals while touching fossils; registration required.
