Voting is now open for the Mayor’s Neighborhood Excellence People’s Choice award in Chandler, Arizona. Seven neighborhoods are competing for the accolade, which recognizes communities that participated in last fall's Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods (G.A.I.N.) initiative, organized in collaboration with local police departments.

Registered Homeowners Associations (HOAs) and traditional neighborhoods that held a G.A.I.N. event were eligible for nomination. The public can cast their votes online until 5 p.m. on Monday, August 12. Voters are encouraged to review the nominations on the Mayor's Neighborhood Excellence Awards website and may cast one vote per device.

The winner will be announced at the G.A.I.N. Kick-off Registration Event on Saturday, September 14, from 9 to 11 a.m., at the Chandler Police Department community room located at 250 E. Chicago St. The winning neighborhood will receive priority selection in this year’s G.A.I.N. event lottery, up to $1,000 for their event, and an opportunity to have a member of the Chandler City Council attend their event on Saturday, October 19.

In addition to the People’s Choice Award, Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke will select his own winner from the nominations.

For more information about the awards program and to cast a vote, visit Mayor's Neighborhood Excellence Awards. Residents interested in hosting a neighborhood G.A.I.N. event this year can find additional details on the G.A.I.N. website or contact the Neighborhood Programs Office at 480-782-4348.
