Congressman Andy Biggs (R-AZ) has formally requested that the House Education and Workforce Committee, chaired by Virginia Foxx (R-NC), conduct a hearing to investigate what he describes as the Biden-Harris Department of Education’s targeting of Christian universities. Biggs asserts that under Secretary Miguel Cardona's leadership, the Department has imposed excessive fines on institutions such as Grand Canyon University (GCU), Liberty University (LU), and Ashland University (AU).

In April, Secretary Cardona expressed his intent to close GCU—the largest Christian university in the United States—during discussions with Members of the House Appropriations Committee’s Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies.

“Congress can no longer sit idly by while the Biden-Harris Administration’s weaponized federal government targets conservative and Christian organizations,” stated Congressman Biggs.

“The ED’s unchecked bureaucratic power must be reined in through congressional oversight. I would welcome the opportunity to work with Chairwoman Foxx to hold this Administration accountable.”

The letter was co-signed by Representatives Bob Good (R-VA), Eli Crane (R-AZ), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), and Debbie Lesko (R-AZ).

The full text of the letter is available for public reading.
