Moms for Liberty has endorsed Ryan Heap in his race for a seat on the Chandler Unified School District (CUSD) Governing Board. Early voting is currently underway for the November 5 general election.

In an interview with the Chandler Chamber of Commerce, Heap revealed his three main concerns as a CUSD Governing Board candidate: safety and accountability, partnerships with parents, and academics and vocational education. He also said that a key objective for him will be working to reverse declining enrollment in CUSD.

"As a school board member, you don't represent one facet of the community," Heap said in the interview. "You represent all of the community, all of our members, and you're kind of that bridge between the school and the administration and teachers, and then the parents and the families who are sending their kids."

Heap shares in the interview that as a young adult, he served on a two-year mission in Mexico, where he became fluent in Spanish. Heap says that during his mission, he gained a great deal of insight into the Hispanic community and their shared family values, and he believes that these insights put him in a better position to serve everyone. 

According to his LinkedIn page, Heap holds a B.S. in electrical engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering, both from Arizona State University. Currently, he works as a design verification engineer at Cirrus Logic.

Heap and his wife have four children, all of whom have been part of the CUSD system.

According to the CUSD Governing Board's website, the Board comprises five members. Per the Maricopa County Superintendent's Office, in the upcoming general election, there are three four-year positions available on the Board.

Moms for Liberty is a parental-rights-in-education advocacy group founded by Tiffany Justice and Tina Descovich, two former school board members. According to their website, "Moms for Liberty is dedicated to fighting for the survival of America by unifying, educating and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government."
