Arizona State University (ASU) has achieved a Gold rating in the inaugural Times Higher Education Online Learning Ranking 2024, highlighting its excellence in online education. This places ASU among the top institutions globally for its commitment to innovation and access in higher education.

The Online Learning Ranking assesses universities on metrics such as student engagement, faculty qualifications, digital infrastructure, and learning outcomes. The Gold rating is the highest distinction awarded. Nancy Gonzales, executive vice president and university provost, stated, "ASU is committed to providing a high-quality, accessible digital education to learners across the globe."

ASU was one of only 11 institutions worldwide to receive this designation out of 120 global universities. Known for its leadership in online learning, ASU was ranked No. 4 for best online bachelor’s programs by U.S. News & World Report earlier this year.

With over 95,000 students enrolled in more than 300 online degree programs and over 100,000 graduates to date, ASU focuses on accessibility and student success. Initiatives like the Starbucks College Achievement Plan and partnerships with Uber aim to expand access to higher education.

Technologies such as Dreamscape Learn enhance ASU's online learning experience by offering immersive virtual reality environments that engage students through narratives and problem-solving scenarios.

The Gold rating also emphasizes ASU’s support systems and innovative course designs that prioritize student outcomes. Faculty work closely with ASU’s instructional design team to create interactive courses using educational technology.

Gonzales remarked on the achievement: “This recognition is not just about what we’ve achieved but about where we’re headed.” She emphasized ASU's ongoing focus on leveraging technology to redefine educational possibilities.
