During the December 12 City Council meeting, Chandler's City Council approved a resolution to collaborate with Brinshore Development, LLC on redeveloping an eight-acre public housing site located at 73 S. Hamilton St. The site will be renamed The Haven on Hamilton and transformed into a multi-family housing project comprising 250 units with one- to five-bedroom options. Additional amenities will include a park area and a large community center featuring multi-generational rooms, a gym, gathering spaces, and a Head Start classroom.

Ninety of these units will accommodate families from existing sites, leaving 160 new Low-Income Housing Tax Credit units for the wider community. Priority will be given to seniors, persons with disabilities, and veterans for residence at this new development. Groundbreaking is scheduled for late 2026 after relocating 90 families to the completed Villas on McQueen property. The project is expected to conclude in late 2028.

The funding for The Haven on Hamilton will come from various county, state, and federal programs without using the city's General Fund. In addition to this resolution, city staff were authorized by the Mayor and City Council to explore optimal uses for Chandler's remaining public housing sites located at 210 N. McQueen Road; 130 N. McQueen Road; 127 N. Kingston St.; and 660 S. Palm Lane. This effort aims to modernize Chandler's aging facilities while expanding affordable housing options for families and seniors.
