Congressman Andy Biggs has reintroduced a series of border security bills aimed at reversing what he describes as the "Biden-Harris regime’s disastrous open-border policies." These legislative efforts are intended to align with President-Elect Trump's mandate on border security.
“President Trump’s incoming Administration will work tirelessly to reverse the Biden-Harris regime’s disastrous open-border policies. I urge the GOP to quickly move my border legislation through the House and Senate so it’s ready to be signed into law by the President soon after his inauguration. The American people delivered a mandate; we must work in tandem with the executive branch to carry out the demands of the people,” said Congressman Biggs.
The proposed bills include several measures designed to tighten immigration controls. The Stopping Border Surges Act aims to close loopholes in immigration law, while promoting integrity within the asylum system. Another bill, titled Fund and Complete the Border Wall Act, proposes financing for the U.S.-Mexico border wall through taxing foreign remittance transfers, adjusting immigration fees, and cutting foreign aid from countries whose nationals illegally enter the United States.
The Ensuring United Families at the Border Act seeks to protect migrant children from unsafe conditions. Additionally, two acts—Ending Catch and Release Act and Grant's Law—focus on prohibiting DHS from releasing illegal aliens under specific circumstances. Grant's Law is named after Grant Ronnebeck, a constituent who was killed by an illegal alien released despite having a final order of removal.
Lastly, Congressman Biggs has introduced the Congressional Border Security Assessment Act which would provide Members of Congress access to all parts of the southern border for national security oversight.
