Mesa Public Schools has affirmed its commitment to providing equal educational opportunities for all students, following the repeal of the Department of Homeland Security's 2021 guidance. The district stated that this change will not alter its policies or practices.

The school district emphasized its role as a supportive environment for learners. "Our schools are caring and safe places that welcome all learners," a spokesperson said. Mesa Public Schools does not require proof of immigration status during enrollment and adheres strictly to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). This federal law mandates the confidentiality of student education records, ensuring that personally identifiable information is protected.

The district further assured that it will not release student information to law enforcement without parental consent unless legally obligated by a judicial order or subpoena. In such cases, families will be notified immediately unless prohibited by law.

"Mesa Public Schools can be counted on to provide learning experiences where every student is known by name, served by strength and need so they graduate ready for college, career and community," the statement concluded.
