Dr. Matt Strom, New Associate Superintendent | Mesa Unified School District
Mesa Public Schools recognized Pomeroy Elementary as the Spotlight School at the board meeting on January 28. Principal Jennifer Field highlighted the contributions of several members of the school community.
Certified staff member Mario Valle was praised for his dedication and support. "His dedication and unwavering support make him a cornerstone of our school community," said Field. Valle is known for his willingness to assist in various areas, including student supervision and translating conversations for the diverse community. He also organizes afterschool sports programs and coordinates traditional events like Walk/Bike to School day and the annual Halloween parade. "Mario is an incredible mentor to our students," Field added.
Karen Fleming, classified staff member, was recognized for her consistent efforts. Field described her as someone who "goes above and beyond without hesitation." Fleming's roles include preparing materials, assisting in the media center, working with small groups of students, and volunteering at events like the book fair. Her positive attitude contributes significantly to creating a supportive atmosphere at Pomeroy Elementary.
Student Bernie Romero-Ramos received recognition for his academic achievements and personal growth. Known for his enthusiasm in math, Bernie is seen as a classroom leader who inspires peers with his problem-solving skills. His creativity extends beyond academics into storytelling and fostering friendships among classmates. "Bernie’s dedication to his work is remarkable," stated Field.
The school commended these individuals for their outstanding contributions to Pomeroy Elementary's vibrant community.
