Eligible residents in Mesa can receive financial relief on their electric bills this summer through the City of Mesa Energy Resources Department's Summer Electric Assistance program (SEA). The program targets residential customers demonstrating financial need with a household income below $35,961 annually. Participating households could see up to $70 savings on their summer electric bills.

The SEA program exempts charges for the first 80 kilowatt hours of usage each month for the summer. This could equate to savings of up to $23.50 monthly for electricity consumed in July, August, and September. Notably, SRP customers are not eligible.

Applications for the program are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. "Eligible Mesa Electric Customers are encouraged to apply before May 29," stated a spokesperson. The deadline for application submissions is August 1, with further information available online.

Additionally, Mesa residents may seek assistance through other programs. The Limited Income Senior Rate Program (LISR) offers a 30 percent discount on water bills for limited-income residents aged 60 and older. A separate initiative, A New Leaf's MesaCAN, provides both utility and rent assistance.

Further details on these assistance programs can be found on the City of Mesa website.
