Warren Petersen, a Republican elected to the Arizona State Senate in 2023 representing the 14th Senate District, posted a series of tweets on January 25 and 26, 2026, criticizing Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes for her recent comments and actions.
On January 25, Petersen expressed support for parental authority, stating “Parents know best!”
Later that day, Petersen addressed a video posted by Kris Mayes. On January 26 he wrote: “Desperate Kris Mayes posted a video on a Sunday because her office is in total meltdown and chaos since her dangerous rhetoric has put law enforcement in peril. Her comments suggesting Arizonans could shoot ICE agents have spread like wildfire nationwide. Instead of supporting”
In another tweet from January 26, Petersen criticized Mayes’ handling of the situation and referenced responses from law enforcement organizations: “Easy to see why Mayes keeps losing in court—she can’t get her facts straight. She tried to spin her dangerous rhetoric as ‘misconstrued’ by Republicans. Wrong! Non-partisan law enforcement called her out directly. The APA, PPSLA and FOP slammed her remarks as ‘reckless,”
Petersen succeeded David Gowan in the state senate following his election in 2023.
