Mesa will open its Winter Wonderland Ice Rink as part of the Merry Main Street event, starting November 28 in downtown Mesa. Residents can now purchase tickets online for skating sessions at the Plaza at Mesa City Center, located at 56 E. Main St. Non-residents can begin purchasing tickets on November 10 at 8 a.m.

Tickets must be bought online and in advance for $11 per one-hour session, which includes skate rental. Walk-up tickets may be available but are limited due to space and time slot constraints. More information and ticket purchases are available at merrymainst.com/icerink.

Merry Main Street features various holiday activities including ice skating, live music, visits with Santa Claus, Friday night movies on a large screen at the Plaza, and the Jack Frost Food Truck Forest at Pioneer Park. The event starts with Santa’s arrival and a tree lighting ceremony on November 28 at 5:45 p.m., followed by an evening of entertainment. Most activities are free to attend; full details can be found at merrymainst.com.

The ice rink will operate weekdays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 10 p.m., with extended weekday hours from December 22 through January 2 (noon to 10 p.m.). On December 24, hours are noon to 6 p.m.; the rink is closed December 25.

Merry Main Street is organized in partnership with several organizations including the City of Mesa; Mesa Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities; Downtown Mesa Association; Visit Mesa; Mesa Chamber of Commerce; Prensa Arizona; Benedictine University; Google Fiber; Nesbitt Contracting; Sysco; and VCA Animal Referral & Emergency Center of Arizona.

The Arizona Parks and Recreation Association recently recognized the City of Mesa with the Outstanding Special Event Award for cities over 100,000 residents for Merry Main Street’s success since its launch in 2015.
