Town of Oro Valley issued the following announcement on June 29
To reduce the spread of COVID-19, Governor Doug Ducey issued three new executive orders earlier today. One of those, Executive Order 2020-43, pauses operations of bars, gyms, movie theaters, waterparks and tubing—effective at 8 p.m. tonight (June 29, 2020.)
Executive Order 2020-43 requires the Oro Valley Community and Recreation Center to close with the target to reopen the facility in approximately 30 days. A reopening date has not yet been identified, and facility users will be notified when a date has been determined. The Oro Valley Aquatic Center will remain open with current precautionary measures in place.

Oro Valley Community and Recreation Center
Closed effective June 29, 2020 at 8 p.m. All memberships will be paused beginning June 30, 2020. No membership fees will be charged until the center reopens. For membership questions, please call the front desk at 520-544-1900, option 3.
The pool at the Community and Recreation will also be closed with the exception of youth swim lessons.
Tennis and outdoor pickleball courts will remain open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. The indoor facility will be closed, including the restrooms, so please plan accordingly. Reservations cannot be made at this time. For information about lessons and clinics, please contact El Conquistador Tennis at 520-229-5372. Please remember that private lessons are not permitted on the tennis courts.
Oro Valley Aquatic Center
The Aquatic Center will remain open with current precautionary measures in place. Reminder, lap lanes must be reserved online and can be done so here. OVAC precautionary measures:
- All lap swimmers are required to reserve a lane in advance of arrival at the facility. No drop-in visits will be allowed. Lanes may be reserved online via www.playov.com.
- Wear a mask while inside the facility. Masks are not permitted while in the water.
- Please come to the facility in your swimsuit and leave in your swimsuit.
- Showers are not currently available.
- Public swim gear such as kickboards, fins, aqua belts, etc. will not be available.
- Only one lap swimmer per lane, and swimming down the center of the lane is encouraged.
- Lap swim will be limited to one hour per individual per day.
- The snack bar at the Oro Valley Aquatic Center is closed, bottled water will be available for purchase at the front desk.
Per the Town of Oro Valley’s Amendment #7 and the Pima County Board of Supervisors’ June 19, 2020 Resolution 2020-49, remember to wear a cloth face covering when you are in public places and unable to continuously maintain a social distance of six feet.
