Chandler city officials approve funding for Chandler Unified School District. | Pixabay
Chandler Unified School District will receive $250,000 from the City of Chandler's AZCares grant funding after it was approved at an Aug. 13 city council meeting.
The grant will be used to purchase 1,000 hotspots to provide internet access to students in need, according to the city's website.
Other agenda items were also addressed during the meeting, including the mayor briefing on the development of Site 7.
Mayor Kevin Hartke said Site 7 has reached agreements with LGE Design Build and D.C. heights with Chasson Affinity Companies. Chasson Affinity Companies is privately owned and in Downtown Chandler, he said during the meeting.
The mayor also addressed the Drowning Impact Awareness Month, which was proclaimed the month of August during an Aug. 10 study session, according to a press release from the city. The proclamation was accepted by Chandler Fire Battalion Chief Jeff West and Jessica Chamberlain with aquatics.
Chandler City Council will hold its next meeting Aug. 24, which will be aired live on Cable Channel 11 and streamed on YouTube and Chandler Video.
