City of Chandler issued the following announcement on Dec. 22.
Following a competitive, nationwide recruitment, City Manager Josh Wright has announced the selection of Tadd Wille as Assistant City Manager and Andy Bass as Deputy City Manager for the City of Chandler.
In these roles, Wille and Bass will work in the City Manager’s Office to oversee city departments and ensure the policies and goals of the city council are achieved in a timely, professional manner as well as provide information to support the city council’s decision-making and policy direction.
“Both Tadd and Andy stood out for their professional experience, knowledge, approachability and commitment to Chandler among an exceptionally talented candidate pool,” said Wright. “Their diverse municipal leadership experience will enhance our capabilities to provide outstanding quality and value through the services and programs offered for Chandler residents and businesses.”
Wille will join Chandler on Feb. 8, 2022, replacing current Assistant City Manager Debra Stapleton who will retire in February. Bass will assume his new role on Jan. 3, 2022, filling the vacant Deputy City Manager position previously occupied by Wright prior to his appointment to the City Manager role by the Chandler City Council in August 2021.
Wille is currently the Deputy City Manager for the City of Tacoma, Washington, to oversee several city departments that provide an array of services to that community’s residents and businesses. He previously served as Tacoma’s budget director to manage their budget development process and long-range financial planning. Prior to joining Tacoma, he worked as the assistant budget director and grants administrator for the City of San Antonio, Texas. Wille is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in history.
Bass is currently Chandler’s Community Services Director to oversee the Chandler Public Library and the City’s recreation/aquatics, park operations and park development divisions, a role he will continue to fulfill until a replacement is hired. He previously served in a similar job with the City of Reno, Nevada, and worked as a parks and recreation director for communities in Colorado and Texas. Bass is a graduate of the University of Colorado with a master’s degree in business administration and a graduate of the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology.
