Yavapai County residents, be aware of a recently resurfaced scam in the area. Reports of residents receiving a phone call stating that the Prescott Newspapers, Inc. (PNI) Smart Shopper will give $100 voucher/s or gift cards, if you subscribe and make a payment over the phone.
The Smart Shopper is a free weekly publication containing grocery and other inserts. To be clear, no one from PNI, Prescott News Network, The Daily Courier, Chino Valley Review, Prescott Valley Tribune, Smart Shopper, or any related products and departments are making these calls or offering this “deal”; the offer does not exist.
Residents and readers who receive these calls are encouraged to get off the phone and call PNI (928)-445-3333 to verify, local law enforcement, or the Department of Economic Security's fraud hotline at 1-800-251-2436 or 602-542-9449.
