Gilbert, Ariz. – This August, the Gilbert Town Council will consider a new fee structure for short-term rentals operating within the town.

A public hearing and vote to adopt the new proposed fees will occur at the regularly scheduled council meeting at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, August 15.

Gilbert is exploring opportunities to help regulate short-term rentals operating within the town. Part of this regulation is the implementation of software that will house a new registration process, a 24/7 hotline for questions and complaints, as well as a portal for owners to manage their rental property.

To offset the cost of this software, Gilbert is looking to introduce a new fee structure for those who operate short-term rentals in Gilbert, which could include:

  • A $100 registration fee
  • A $100 rolling annual renewal fee
If approved by the council on August 15, the short-term rental fees will go into effect in September 2023 along with the implementation of the new short-term rental ordinance.
