The Chandler Mayor’s Committee for People with Disabilities has opened nominations for the 2025 Disability Awareness Awards. These awards recognize individuals and organizations that contribute significantly to the disability community, highlighting the importance of inclusion in Chandler.

"The Disability Awareness Awards celebrate both individuals who have overcome personal challenges and those who work tirelessly to promote inclusion, accessibility and opportunity in our community," said Committee Chair Tom Fay. "These champions help make Chandler a more welcoming city for all residents."

Nominations are open to all members of the Chandler community and must be submitted by January 31. The awards are free to enter, and applications can be found on the Disability Awareness Awards website.

Award recipients will be honored by Mayor Kevin Hartke and the Chandler City Council during their meeting on February 20. The Mayor's Committee advises on policies related to advocacy issues faced by people with disabilities, including accessibility, education, and employment.

The awards precede Disability Awareness Month, which is observed annually in March by the City of Chandler. For further details about the awards or nomination process, interested parties can contact Adaptive Recreation via email or call 480-782-2908.
