Rep. Andy Biggs expresses his support for Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House.

Republican Rep. Jim Jordan faced another setback in his quest for the role of House Speaker, as 22 House Republicans voted against him in a second vote on Wednesday. This marks a slight increase from the 20 opposing votes he received in the first round. However, Jordan remains determined to continue seeking the support needed to become the next Speaker. Several Republican Reps. have voiced concerns about feeling pressured to vote for Jordan, primarily because their colleagues are singling them out for not endorsing his candidacy. Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy faced a similar challenge when it took 15 rounds of voting in January to secure his role as speaker, according to CNN News.

Earlier this month, Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz initiated the vote to oust McCarthy, marking an event that has not taken place in over a century. As a result, the House is now responsible for selecting a new Speaker. The motion was successful with a vote of 216 to 210, with eight Republicans aligning with Democrats in favor of McCarthy's removal from the speakership. McCarthy informed lawmakers that he would not seek re-election, leaving the position vacant, according to CNN News.

Jim Jordan is known as one of the "most conservative members of Congress" and a strong advocate for taxpayers. He is a supporter of former President Trump, and played a role in founding the House Freedom Caucus, where he served as its first Chairman. Additionally, he holds the position of Chairman on the House Judiciary Committee and is an active member of the House Oversight Committee. Jordan currently represents Ohio's 4th District and holds a Master's degree in Education, a Law Degree, and a Bachelor's Degree in Economics, according to the website for Jordan.

"Why do the Swamp 22 keep crying about 'intimidation' tactics?!," said Rogan O'Handley, Ambassador of Turning Point USA, according to a post on platform X. "We’re literally just telling you what voters want. Stop acting like the victim now that voters are calling you out for backstabbing them in exchange for lobbyist money."

"He will help us get our border under control, rein in wasteful spending, and end the weaponization of the federal government," said Biggs about Jordan on the X platform.
