Gilbert, Ariz. - For over a century, the brave men and women of the Gilbert Fire & Rescue Department have been dedicated to protecting and serving our community. GFRD is one of only 113 fire departments in the country to be both accredited and have an ISO Class 1 designation, which is in the top one-half of one percent nationally. Now is your chance to be a part of the department’s long respected legacy. Applications for firefighters are open now through February 11, 2024.  

Applicants must be: 

•    18 years of age, or older. 

•    Have at least a high school diploma or GED. 

•    Possess a valid driver’s license by April 17, 2024. 

•    Do you have a Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) issued October 2023 or more recently, or the ability to obtain one by April 17th, 2024? 

•    Do you possess National Registry EMT Basic Certification, State of Arizona EMT or the ability to obtain prior to April 17, 2024? (Required) 

If you meet the minimum qualifications, you can begin the two-step application process to become a Gilbert firefighter by visiting the Public Safety Answers website. Remember both steps must be completed in their entirety by deadline for your application to be considered.
