CHANDLER, Ariz. – Chandler firefighters are calling for volunteers to join them in a community outreach initiative aimed at enhancing fire safety through the installation of smoke alarms and educational efforts. The event, scheduled for April 6, will see firefighters and volunteers collaborating to visit homes in Chandler neighborhoods near Arizona Avenue and Ray Road.
The initiative, known as the Community Smoke Alarm Program, serves as an opportunity for local businesses and organizations to come together for a common cause. In partnership with the Arizona Burn Foundation, American Red Cross, and other East Valley fire departments, the program aims to equip residents with essential fire prevention tools and knowledge.
"We are excited to work alongside volunteers to make a tangible impact on our community's safety," said a representative from the Chandler Fire Department.
Volunteers participating in the program will engage in door-to-door visits, offering to install smoke alarms free of charge and sharing valuable insights on fire safety. The collaborative effort will target select neighborhoods in Chandler, Tempe, and Mesa, with teams of three individuals set to cover designated areas.
"No experience is necessary to take part in this initiative," emphasized the organizers. "All training, tools, and materials will be provided on the day of the event."
Individuals interested in contributing to the cause can register online through the Arizona Burn Foundation Community Smoke Alarm Program. By selecting the Chandler event scheduled for April 6 and signing up, volunteers will receive event details, including meeting locations and activities for the day.
The event is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., with roles available for both installers and record keepers. Volunteers are encouraged to seize this opportunity to play a crucial role in promoting fire safety within their communities.
