ASU ranks high with multiple graduate programs among nation's best

Arizona State University (ASU) has seen 14 of its graduate programs ranked among the top 10 nationwide, according to U.S. News & World Report's 2024 rankings. The university also boasts a total of 32 programs in the top 20.

Notably, Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation’s Doctor of Nursing Practice made a significant leap, climbing 30 spots to No. 26, surpassing institutions like Yale and UCLA.

The Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions maintained its strong performance with seven graduate programs in the top 10. This includes its master's degree program in homeland security at No. 2, ahead of notable universities such as the University of Southern California and Columbia University.

Nancy Gonzales, ASU executive vice president and university provost, expressed pride in these results: “The rankings exemplify the quality of scholarship at ASU in a wide breadth of disciplines, which is thanks to the incredible faculty and academic leaders we have assembled at our university.”

ASU continues to be recognized across various U.S. News & World Report higher education rankings throughout the year. The institution was named the most innovative university for nine consecutive years last September and was rated No. 4 for best online bachelor’s programs in February.

In addition to homeland security, other top-ranked graduate programs include local government management and information technology management from Watts College at No. 3; an MBA in supply chain management from W.P. Carey School of Business also at No. 3; public management and leadership from Watts College at No. 5; nonprofit management from Watts College at No. 5; legal writing from Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at No. 5; Doctor of Nursing Practice in gerontology tied for No.6; MBA in information systems at No.6; MBA in international business at No.8; project management at W.P Carey School at No.9; elementary teacher education from Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at No.9; urban policy from Watts College at No.9; environmental policy and management from Watts College ranked tenth.

Overall, ASU had numerous programs rank within the top tiers nationally including eleven from Watts College with specialties like public affairs ranking thirteenth overall.

Shannon Portillo, director of the School of Public Affairs commented on this achievement: “With seven specialty areas ranked in the top ten...ASU’s School Of Public Affairs is tied for most ranked specialty areas."
