The Edison Awards have announced Michael M. Crow, president of Arizona State University (ASU), as a 2025 Edison Achievement Award honoree. This award acknowledges Crow's transformative leadership in higher education, particularly his role in redefining the public research university's contribution to global innovation.

Under Crow's leadership, ASU has been ranked No. 1 in innovation by U.S. News & World Report for ten consecutive years. The university is recognized for its pioneering approaches to education, research, and technology.

Crow expressed his gratitude for the recognition: “I am very honored to receive the Edison Award and to join the company of such an incredible cohort of innovation and technology leaders.” He added that he admires Edison's commitment to finding solutions through imagination and hard work, ideals he strives for at ASU.

ASU is known for being student-centric and technology-enabled, focusing on global challenges. It has also been ranked No. 1 in the nation and top 10 globally by Times Higher Education for advancing the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.

During Crow’s tenure, ASU has established over 25 new transdisciplinary schools and launched multidisciplinary initiatives like the Biodesign Institute and the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory.

Frank Bonafilia, executive director of the Edison Awards, stated: “We are thrilled to honor Dr. Crow, whose contributions have set new standards for innovation in academia.”

The Edison Achievement Awards spotlight leaders who have shaped global progress alongside their annual Best New Product Awards. Nominations for these awards are open until October 31.
