Gilbert Public Schools (GPS) is set to honor its employees who have reached a significant milestone of 25 years with the district. A celebratory breakfast, hosted by Superintendent Dr. Shane McCord, will take place on January 14, 2025, to recognize these dedicated individuals.

Kevin Bennett, Director of Bands at Highland High School, has been instrumental in shaping the music program within GPS for over two decades. He emphasizes the transformative nature of music education and acknowledges the support from GPS in fostering a thriving environment for students. “We have a lot of students who come into our music programs and it transforms into a family,” he explains.

Kelly Kelley, a Reading Specialist at Superstition Springs Elementary, has spent her career nurturing young minds. She highlights the supportive community within GPS and expresses her passion for teaching. “I love seeing people learn, so my goal is to help them love to learn,” she said.

Karla Kuhlemeyer has witnessed growth in special education during her tenure as an Adaptive PE Teacher. She appreciates the investment GPS has made in these programs and values the inclusive environment created through initiatives like Unified PE programs.

Kelly Westerberg's journey with GPS began unexpectedly but led to a fulfilling career as a counselor at South Valley Junior High. She describes her role as more than just a job, viewing it as a calling that requires dedication and purpose.

In addition to Bennett, Kelley, Kuhlemeyer, and Westerberg, 43 other employees are being recognized for their long-term service to GPS. The list includes teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff across various schools in the district.

The district expresses gratitude towards all its employees for their dedication and commitment to student success. More information about working at Gilbert Public Schools can be found on their website.
