Rio Salado College has outlined a process for students residing outside Maricopa County to take exams with an approved proctor. The college provides a detailed guide to ensure students can complete their in-person exams conveniently.
Students are advised to check their class page on RioLearn or the syllabus to determine if in-person exams are required. If so, the Proctor Request Form must be completed within the first week of classes.
The first step involves locating a suitable proctor. According to the guidelines, "Most proctors charge a fee for their services and you are responsible for paying any applicable charges." Acceptable proctors must be employees at university or college testing centers or military base education centers. Proctors should have no conflict of interest.
Once a proctor is selected, students need to fill out and submit the Proctor Request Form with all necessary details about the course and proctor information. "You must submit a separate request form for every course that requires a proctored exam," notes the guide.
After approval, exams will be sent to proctors within seven days, but it may take up to three weeks for completion of this process. Students will receive confirmation via email once tests are dispatched. If disapproved, they will need to find another proctor.
Subsequently, students should contact their approved proctor to schedule exam appointments and settle any fees involved. They must bring valid photo ID and permitted materials on exam day.
Following examination completion, testing materials are returned by the proctor, and grades will be issued by instructors.
