Kyrene Community Education is launching a series of summer programs designed for students from PreK to 8th grade across the Valley. The programs offer a range of activities, including STEM projects, arts and crafts, and field trips, aiming to keep students engaged and learning through the summer months.
New to this year's Summer Academy, families can choose different classes for their children weekly, with more than 50 courses available. "Families can pick new classes for their child each week," Kyrene Community Education confirms.
The partnership with Bricks 4 Kidz and Young Rembrandts introduces STEAM Camp at Kyrene de la Estrella for students in incoming 1st through 5th grade. The camp, running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., will include themes like space and amusement parks.
Kyrene Traditional Academy's Summer Academy offers classes from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. for students in 1st through 5th grade. Courses include Jr. Crime Scene Detectives and Working with Clay.
Middle school students in grades 6 to 8 can enhance their math skills or explore specific interests with classes like Comic Book Creations and Esports. These sessions are also open at the Kyrene Traditional Academy.
The After Hours program for incoming 5th to 8th-grade students will be hosted at Kyrene Aprende Middle School. It offers an all-day experience with field trips to places like the Arizona Diamondbacks and Medieval Times.
Programs for younger children include a preschool hosted at Kyrene de las Brisas and Kyrene de la Estrella, focusing on weekly themes and a variety of activities for ages 3 to 5.
Kids Club, available at multiple locations, provides full-day activities involving games, STEM projects, and arts, while the Adventure Tours at Kyrene Aprende Middle School offer full-day field trips and events.
Sports Camp at Kyrene Traditional Academy focuses on enhancing sports skills for incoming 4th to 8th-grade students, with weekly sessions on sports like Volleyball and Basketball. The camp is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
