Lynn Jorgensen, a physics teacher at Gilbert High School, has been honored with the National PhysTEC Teacher of the Year award. This accolade recognizes her contributions to advancing high school physics education.

The PhysTEC Teacher of the Year award acknowledges outstanding efforts by in-service high school teachers in physics education both locally and nationally. While each member state of PhysTEC awards a state-level Teacher of the Year, only one individual is recognized as the National Teacher of the Year.

Jorgensen's dedication to enhancing physics education is evident through her work. She teaches Physics, AP Physics 1, and AP Physics 2 at Gilbert High School. Additionally, she collaborates with Arizona State University on teaching methodologies and serves as the past President of the American Modeling Teachers Association. She has also contributed significantly to a task force aimed at bolstering support for high school physics teachers.

"Working alongside educators who are passionate about supporting others is incredibly rewarding," said Jorgensen. "This recognition underscores the importance of continuous professional development in ensuring our students have access to the highest quality science education possible."

Gilbert Public Schools remains committed to providing top-quality education to its students. Those interested in joining can attend a district-wide job fair on January 21, 2025, from 4 PM to 6 PM at Highland High School or visit their website for more information.
