Legacy Traditional Schools has been approved by the North Carolina Charter Schools Review Board to establish a new K-8 campus in Winston-Salem. The school, set to open for the 2026-27 academic year, aims to provide an educational option that integrates academic rigor with community-focused values.

The planned campus will initially accommodate up to 760 students and is designed to eventually support 1,200 students. It will include various facilities such as classrooms, administrative offices, a gymnasium, athletic fields, and more. Covering approximately 80,000 square feet on 12 acres, the campus promises a tuition-free curriculum emphasizing core academics along with arts and physical education.

“Legacy Traditional Schools has a proud history of partnering with families and communities to help students thrive,” said David Singletary from the Legacy Traditional Schools Governing Board. “We’re honored to bring Legacy’s proven educational model to Winston-Salem and look forward to building a vibrant learning community.”

Dr. Jennifer Turney, superintendent of Legacy Traditional Schools – North Carolina, highlighted the network's dedication beyond academics. “Legacy’s approach goes beyond academics—we’re dedicated to creating a culture of respect, community and opportunity,” she stated.

The location details for the Winston-Salem campus will be released soon, with construction beginning in 2025. Families interested in updates can follow Legacy Traditional Schools – North Carolina on social media or visit northcarolina.legacytraditional.org.

Legacy Traditional Schools operates as a nonprofit network of public charter schools offering tuition-free education. The network serves students across multiple states including Arizona, Nevada, Texas, and through an online academy.
