The Chandler Fire Department (CFD) has received a $45,510 highway safety grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. This funding will allow the continuation of the department's Child Safety Seat Clinics program until September 30, 2025. The grant will support the staffing of the clinics and offer child safety seats to families who are unable to afford them.

Scheduled on certain Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the car seat clinics are held at the Chandler Public Safety Center, 3550 S. Dobson Road, with upcoming clinics on April 12 and 19.

Certified CFD personnel conduct these clinics, offering one-on-one instruction on safe seat installation and ensuring each child is properly secured based on their age and weight. CFD technicians are certified child passenger seat technicians through SafeKids International.

Motor vehicle injuries remain a leading cause of death among children in the United States, primarily due to incorrect or nonuse of child seats and seat belts. For over two decades, the Chandler Fire Department and the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety have collaborated to enhance the safety of young passengers in Arizona. Since 2002, this partnership has aided in securing over 12,000 children, increasing their chances of survival in motor vehicle incidents.

Additional information on the Chandler Fire Department’s Child Safety Seat Program, including clinic registration, can be accessed through Car Seat Safety Check.
