Later that day, Stanton addressed the topic of tariffs imposed by former President Trump, indicating they function as taxes that burden American families and businesses. In a tweet posted at 19:22:34 UTC, he stated, "Trump’s tariffs are just taxes that raise prices on American families and businesses. And he just doesn’t care."

In a further statement, Stanton, along with his colleagues, called on President Biden to stop efforts to eliminate the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services (US_IMLS). He emphasized the agency's importance in supporting cultural institutions, particularly in rural and Tribal areas. He wrote, "My colleagues and I are calling on @POTUS to end his administration’s efforts to shut down @US_IMLS.
