Monica Woodruff, a recent graduate from Desert Vista High School in the Tempe Union High School District, reflects on her educational journey enriched by the Rio Salado College Dual Enrollment and ACE program. Woodruff accrued 74 credits through the program, propelling her into Arizona State University, where she is currently pursuing a degree in Business Entrepreneurship. Her experience with the dual enrollment program mirrors that of her siblings, who have also successfully transitioned into higher education.

Woodruff answered questions about her experience with dual enrollment, a program that allowed her to earn college credits while still in high school. She distinguished this from the ACE program by noting, "In high school, I took several dual enrollment classes that were the same as the classes I was enrolled in. Unlike ACE, I took two summer college classes, and in the fall and spring, I took one online college course." This strategic approach enabled her to save on college expenses and focus on major-specific classes.

Reflecting on the benefits, Woodruff stated, "It boosted my writing skills, and now that I am in college, it has made my writing class assignments so much easier. It also helps you focus on completing your major-specific classes rather than wasting your time and money on general credits."

She also credited tuition assistance programs, including the Honors and ACE Programs, for alleviating financial burdens. These resources were accessible through straightforward applications, sometimes requiring an essay, but generally offering significant monetary support.

When asked for advice for students deliberating over dual enrollment, Woodruff was unequivocal: "Do dual enrollment; that's all I have to say. Dual enrollment will change your life, make college cost less, make college more fun, make college easier, and set you ahead. There are just so many benefits you can get from dual enrollment."
