Yavapai County Board of Supervisors issued the following announcement on July 20.
Over the past few weeks, we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of positive Covid-19 test results in Yavapai County. We knew there would be an increase after the events that took place around our Fourth of July celebration, but these numbers have me concerned.
More than the positive Covid-19 numbers are the increases we have seen in hospitalizations. Today (7/20/2021) Yavapai Regional Medical Center has 29 patients with Covid and the Verde Valley Medical Center has 13. I once again am here to encourage everyone to get vaccinated.
This is obviously your choice but by getting vaccinated you are not only protecting yourself but those around you who may not be able to get the vaccine. Young children and those with weakened immune systems cannot get the shot and so by doing your part you are serving and protecting those you love. As the Chairman of the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors, during an emergency it is my responsibility to take the necessary actions to protect Yavapai County citizens. This may include making the difficult decision to close County buildings to the public, and limiting the events held at the Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza. I do not want to restrict access to County buildings or be the cause of fewer events downtown but if we continue to see the Covid numbers increase, like we have over the past few weeks, I will take the necessary actions to protect our citizens. There are still several places and ways to get the free vaccine right now. You can get more information by following the link below. The vaccine is free right now but may not be in the future. Please do what you can now, before it is too late.
Thank you,
Craig L. Brown
