Hortonambulance

Town of Gilbert issued the following announcement on July 26.

Gilbert's Ambulance Transportation Division is now officially in service, with six ambulances providing the best possible care and coverage for Gilbert residents. The Gilbert Fire & Rescue Department (GFRD) recently expanded to secure this critical line of service, to uphold Gilbert's mission to anticipate, create and help people.

“Providing ambulance transportation to our citizens during medical emergencies is a natural extension of our service delivery model,” said Chief Jim Jobusch. “The personnel assigned to the ambulances will receive the same medical training and follow the same protocols as our firefighters, which will ensure seamless operations and continuity of care for our patients. As Gilbert grows and emergency services evolve, Gilbert Fire and Rescue will be better positioned to effectively and proficiently meet the needs of the community.”

The ambulances are strategically located across Gilbert at Fire Station 1, Fire Station 2, Fire Station 3, Fire Station 7, Fire Station 8 and Fire Station 9. Each ambulance is crewed by one paramedic and one EMT.

The goals of GFRD’s Ambulance Service include:

  • Enhanced patient and employee safety
  • Cost effective service model with lower rates for users
  • Deployment model that prioritizes service to Gilbert citizens
  • Hiring of employees who match Gilbert's culture and values
  • Proficiently trained employeesLong-term sustainability of a critical line of service
  • Ability to innovate and adapt to Gilbert's needs

Service fees for Gilbert’s Ambulance Transportation are set and mandated by the Arizona Department of Health Services through its Arizona Ground Ambulance Service Rate Schedule.
