Town of Queen Creek issued the following announcement on July 20.

Ocotillo Road, the east-west roadway that runs through the heart of Queen Creek is being widened from Ironwood to Signal Butte (link to Facebook Live groundbreaking).

The project will include widening Ocotillo Road to two lanes in each direction with center turn lanes, bike lanes, sidewalks, drainage improvements, utility modifications and intersection enhancements at Meridian and Barnes Parkway. The project will also widen Meridian south to two lanes in each direction, connecting to the previously widened roadway. Improvements are anticipated to be complete in late 2022.

“This project is another example of our commitment to Better Roads Ahead in Queen Creek,” stated Queen Creek Mayor Gail Barney. “With the completion of this project, Ocotillo Road will be two lanes in each direction from Ironwood all the way to Hawes. The project is being completed with support from Maricopa County and W Holdings. We know roadway improvements can be inconvenient and we appreciate the community’s continued patience while we make these important infrastructure improvements.”
