Give gifts this holiday season that are both meaningful and easy on your wallet by creating custom, personalized and unique objects in our makerspace, THINKspot!
THINKspot is designed for hands-on exploration and experimentation. It offers training and access to high-tech equipment at no cost to library cardholders.
THINKspot is located at three Mesa Public Library locations:
Main Library, 64 E. First St.
Dobson Ranch Library, 2425 S. Dobson Road
Red Mountain Library, 635 N. Power Road
Specific equipment may vary by location, but each THINKspot offers a 3D printer, laser cutter, sewing machines, embroidery machine, vinyl cutter, studio space and an iMac with professional video and audio editing software. To use THINKspot equipment, users complete training, sign a liability waiver, and agree to follow the guidelines.
In addition to online trainings, Mesa Public Library has upcoming in-person THINKspot classes designed to help people learn to use the equipment:
Laser-cut wooden holiday ornaments at the Dobson Ranch Library, Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. for adults (ages 18+), and Thursday, Nov. 30 at 4 p.m. for teens (ages 12-18).
Three-dimensional paper snowflakes on the vinyl cutter at the Dobson Ranch Library Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. for adults (ages 18+).
Laser-cut acrylic snowflakes at the Main Library, Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 4 p.m. for teens (ages 12-18) and 6 p.m. for adults (ages 18+).
Classes require registration at mesalibrary.org/events. To reserve and use THINKspot equipment on your own, a library card is required. Mesa Public Library cards are free for anyone who lives in Maricopa County for at least 30 consecutive days a year, works, owns property or attends school within the County.
