Mesa residents are being called upon to support their community by contributing to the ABC: A Better Community utility donation program. This initiative, spearheaded by the City of Mesa, aims to provide essential services such as shelter, meals, and support to Mesa children, families, and seniors who are facing economic challenges.

The process of donating to ABC has been made simple and convenient for City of Mesa utility customers. Individuals can choose to automatically donate money along with their monthly utility bill payments. Alternatively, they can round up their utility bill to the nearest dollar or make a one-time contribution. These small acts of generosity can go a long way in making a difference in the lives of those in need.

To ensure the efficient distribution of funds, the City of Mesa has allocated ABC grant money to five non-profit agencies for the 23/24 fiscal year. These organizations include the Boys & Girls Club of the Valley, Copa Health, Catholic Charities Community Services, Homeless Youth Connection, and Paz des Cristo. Each agency plays a vital role in providing various services and support to the Mesa community, ranging from academic mentoring and career counseling to shelter beds and meals for those experiencing homelessness.

Over the past year, the impact of ABC donations has been significant. Mesa non-profit organizations were able to feed 127,725 residents and provide clean clothes and showers to help individuals start anew. Moreover, the program empowered individuals by assisting them in finding employment and eliminating barriers that hinder their progress.

It is worth noting that even non-Mesa utility customers can contribute to the cause. Donations can be made online through the official website at mesaaz.gov/abc, where options such as "Donate Now" and "Donate Via Utility Bill" are available. Credit and debit card payments are accepted for online donations. Additionally, donations can be made over the phone by calling 480-644-2221 during designated hours or by mailing a check to City of Mesa Customer Service, PO BOX 1466 Mesa, AZ 85211-1466, with the program name, "ABC: A Better Community," clearly indicated in the memo area.

The ABC program has proven to be a lifeline for many Mesa residents in need. By making a donation, individuals can directly contribute to improving the lives of their fellow community members.
