The Tempe Transit Store is extending its evening and weekend hours to accommodate riders who are signing up for reduced fare and the Youth Transit Pass Program.

Reduced fare options are available for seniors aged 65 and above, persons with disabilities, and Medicare card holders. By August 1, these riders will need a reduced fare account to purchase anything other than a single ride. Riders can choose between the Valley Metro app or a reduced fare Copper card when applying.

Interested parties can apply online for reduced fares at valleymetrofares.org. To confirm the necessary documents, riders are encouraged to visit valleymetro.org/reducedfare. The extended hours also provide an opportunity for families to secure a youth pass for summer activities and the upcoming school year. Children aged 6-18 from Tempe and Guadalupe are eligible for free transit through the Youth Transit Pass Program, although specific documents are required when applying. More information can be found at tempe.gov/YouthPass.

In-person applications can be completed at the Tempe Transit Store located at 200 E. 5th St., which will remain open until 7 p.m. every other Wednesday and select Saturdays from 8 a.m.- noon.

For resources and a full list of in-person locations and hours to apply, visit valleymetro.org/reducedfarehelp. Further information about the new fare system launching this summer can be found at valleymetro.org/faretechnology.

Tempe has established itself as a hub for technology, business, inclusivity, recreation, and adventure. Its multi-modal transportation system includes over 220 miles of bikeways, six free neighborhood circulator routes, a comprehensive bus network, six miles of light rail, and a three-mile streetcar route.
