CHANDLER, Ariz. – The City of Chandler and Gorman & Company have announced the groundbreaking development of Villas on McQueen, Chandler's first public housing project converted through HUD's Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program. The event will take place on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. at 77 N. McQueen Road in Chandler, Arizona.
This project aims to provide low and moderate-income renters with sustainable housing options and on-site resident services. The Chandler City Council unanimously approved the initiative, highlighting community support for this development. Mayor Kevin Hartke stated, “Today’s milestone has been years in the making. We are one step closer to modernizing our aging housing facilities and providing much-needed housing options for families and seniors in Chandler.”
Located near essential services such as schools, healthcare providers, parks, social services, recreational amenities, and employment opportunities, Villas on McQueen is designed to accommodate a diverse population including seniors, veterans, individuals with developmental disabilities (IDDs), and families.
Sally Schwenn, Arizona Market President for Gorman & Company remarked that "Villas on McQueen represents a major step forward in providing supportive housing options in Chandler." She emphasized that the project addresses immediate housing needs while ensuring long-term benefits through its amenities and accessibility features.
Villas on McQueen is part of Chandler's master redevelopment plan and aims to set a new standard for community-centric development.
