The City of Chandler is organizing a series of public workshops in September to gather community input on the new Downtown Region Area Plan. These sessions aim to explore changes in the downtown area and develop a community-built vision for its future growth and development.

The workshops, titled “Scenarios: Help Shape Chandler’s Downtown Region,” will take place at the Downtown Chandler Library, 22 S. Delaware St., Copper Room. Attendees will receive an overview of the update and have the opportunity to explore various scenarios for their ideal downtown community. The sessions are scheduled as follows:

For those unable to attend in person, a virtual workshop will be available from September 7 to 27 on the Downtown Region Area Plan Update website.

Final outreach meetings are set for November 15 and 16 at the ASU Chandler Innovation Center, 249 E. Chicago St. These workshops will feature a fully immersive 3D Augmented Reality experience, allowing attendees to test and visualize proposed scenarios for Chandler's future downtown region.

Chandler residents and stakeholders are also encouraged to complete an online questionnaire available from September 7-27 on the Downtown Region Area Plan Update website.

This updated plan will merge two existing area plans: the South Arizona Avenue Plan (adopted in 2006 and amended in 2008) and the updated downtown portion of the Chandler Redevelopment Element (adopted in 1995).
