The Chandler City Council has approved a $108,000 agreement with Sigma Tactical Wellness to enhance the health and wellness of Chandler Police officers. This initiative focuses on early detection of heart disease and related conditions through specialized screenings.

Over 200 police personnel in Chandler have participated in this voluntary health program, which targets health risks specific to first responders. The onsite cardiometabolic health screening provides officers with a comprehensive understanding of their current metabolic status and individual cardiovascular risk. It also includes exercise and nutrition modification recommendations.

Sigma Tactical Wellness highlights that heart disease is the leading cause of death among active and retired law enforcement officers. They assert that early detection can significantly reduce the severe impacts of cardiac disease for first responders.

Their system evaluates early stages of coronary disease using markers that predict potential heart attacks. The screening process incorporates medical evaluations, blood-based inflammatory biomarker detection, vascular imaging, and cardiopulmonary exercise testing to identify both early onset and late-stage coronary disease.
