The Chandler City Council has entered into a $525,000 agreement with Logan Simpson Design, Inc. to update the city's General Plan and conduct a comprehensive housing plan. This move is in compliance with state law, which mandates that the General Plan be adopted and ratified every decade. The current plan was adopted by the Mayor and Council in April 2016.
Logan Simpson Design, Inc. will oversee the updating process, aiming for City Council adoption in spring 2026 and voter ratification by August 2026. To ensure public involvement, a Resident Advisory Committee will be formed alongside a participation plan to gather feedback from residents and stakeholders.
In addition to updating the General Plan, the consultant will fulfill requirements set by SB1162. Signed into law earlier this year by Governor Hobbs, SB1162 obligates cities to perform and publish a housing needs assessment every five years.
The City Council has deliberated on these matters multiple times throughout the year. Details of the agreement's scope are available online, and further information for resident participation can be found at chandleraz.gov.
