Falcon Field Airport has announced the completion of a reconstruction project on part of the Anzio Ramp. The upgrade aims to enhance infrastructure and comply with current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards. The project, which began in August 2024, concluded with the final application of paint on December 24. Funding was provided by the Arizona Department of Transportation through an Airport Development Reimbursable Grant Agreement.

The reconstruction cost totaled $577,759. Woolpert, Inc. served as the design engineer, Neve Construction acted as the construction contractor, and construction management services were handled by the City of Mesa Engineering Department. Originally built in 1992 and named after a World War II battle, this marks the first major pavement reconstruction for Anzio Ramp. Before reconstruction, its Pavement Condition Index score was 51, indicating poor condition.

The project has resulted in one new aircraft tie-down position with plans for two more in the future. The ramp serves several businesses at Falcon Field Airport including Rango Inc., Allen Air 2, LLC, and Together at the Landing.

"The completion of the Anzio Ramp reconstruction is a noteworthy achievement for our airport," stated Corinne Nystrom, Airport Director at Falcon Field Airport. "This long-awaited upgrade not only modernizes our infrastructure but also strengthens the foundation for the businesses and operations that rely on us. It's a testament to our commitment to progress. We greatly appreciate the financial support provided by the Arizona Department of Transportation, which made this project possible."

The reopening is anticipated to improve operational efficiency and support growth at Falcon Field Airport along with its associated businesses.
