In July 2022, the City of Chandler introduced Chandler Flex, an on-demand shared transportation service. By February 2025, this microtransit program had provided over 100,000 rides.

To mark this milestone, city staff greeted Betty Neal, the recipient of the 100,000th ride, with balloons and Chandler merchandise at the Chandler Senior Center on Monday morning. Betty is a frequent user of Chandler Flex and appreciates the service for its expanded mobility and friendly drivers. She stated, “I love it! They bring me [to the Senior Center]. They’re so sweet.”

Since its inception, Chandler Flex has grown in popularity. Ridership increased by 35 percent from January 2024 to January 2025.

A recent survey indicated that riders find the service convenient and affordable. It aids individuals of all ages in achieving independence and flexibility while enhancing their quality of life. Students particularly benefit from using it for commuting to before and after school activities.

Rides can be booked via a mobile app or by calling 602-932-0291. After entering ride details, users receive options and are directed to a nearby "virtual bus stop" within walking distance where a driver will meet them.

The service employs minivans that transport passengers within a limited area in Chandler. As it is a shared ride system, other passengers may join along the route.

Chandler Flex operates Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., covering an area south of Chandler Blvd., east of Price Road to McQueen Road.
