Educators in Gilbert recently participated in a behind-the-scenes tour of the town's emergency operations. The initiative, known as "Tours for Teachers," offered a close-up view of how local police, fire, and medical dispatch teams function under pressure to maintain community safety.

During the visit, teachers explored the Emergency Management Office and gained insights into the various roles available within public safety beyond the typical positions of police officers and firefighters. This included learning about careers such as emergency dispatchers, analysts, and administrative staff.

The Town of Gilbert emphasized its commitment to providing competitive salaries and clear pathways for career advancement within public service roles. Additionally, educators learned about internship programs that offer high school and college students practical experience through mentorship opportunities and on-the-job training within municipal departments.

The knowledge acquired during this tour equips educators with tools to guide students interested in public service careers. By linking classroom education with real-world experiences, Tours for Teachers aims to empower students with information necessary for making informed career decisions.
