Congressman Andy Biggs from Arizona has introduced a new legislative proposal aimed at restructuring the Department of Education. The legislation, named the Guarding Religious And Career Education (GRACE) Act, seeks to dismantle the Office of Enforcement within the Office of Federal Student Aid. This move aligns with what Congressman Biggs describes as a mandate delivered by Americans in the last election.

The American Principles Project recently published a report indicating that nearly 70% of enforcement actions by the Department of Education under President Biden's administration were directed at faith-based and career schools. These institutions reportedly represent less than 10% of students nationwide.

A significant case cited is the $37.7 million fine imposed on Grand Canyon University, recognized as the largest Christian university in the United States. This penalty contrasts sharply with other fines for similar allegations, such as a $700,000 fine against a private university in the Northeast.

In addition to introducing this legislation, Congressman Biggs has sent a letter to Education Secretary Linda McMahon. The letter calls for an investigation into what he perceives as targeted actions by the Office of Enforcement against Christian and technical schools.

"Under the radical Biden-Harris regime, ED clearly weaponized the federal government against Christian universities like GCU," stated Congressman Biggs. He further commented on future implications: "The unchecked bureaucratic state’s days are limited under America First President Donald Trump. Congress must codify his priorities to ensure that no future administration can ever again weaponize the government against the American people."

Further details on both the legislation and letter are available through provided links.
