This Women's History Month, Arizona State University (ASU) highlights the achievements of its female athletes who are not only excelling in sports but also pursuing education. The theme for this year is “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating and Inspiring Generations.”

Among these athletes are race car driver Chloe Chambers, international softball player Dallas Escobedo Magee, and WNBA basketball star Elizabeth Williams. Each of them has made significant strides in their respective sports while also advancing academically through ASU Online.

Chloe Chambers, a 20-year-old professional race car driver, is balancing her racing career with studying business administration online at ASU. She races for the Red Bull Ford Academy Programme in the F1 Academy. Chambers credits her mother, a teacher, for instilling the importance of education. "She's always wanted us to get our degrees," Chambers said. She emphasizes the advantage of online education in allowing her to pursue both racing and academics without interruption.

Dallas Escobedo Magee has built a remarkable career in women's professional fast-pitch softball after graduating from ASU in 2014. She played with Team Mexico Women's National Softball Team and participated in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Pursuing a master's degree online allowed her to maintain ties with ASU while traveling globally for competitions. "The early stages of when I started my online degree, I was in the States," she said. Her studies have also supported her coaching aspirations.

Elizabeth Williams, center for Chicago Sky, combines her passion for basketball with an interest in global health. Originally considering a medical career like her parents, she pursued basketball professionally while studying global health online at ASU. "I've learned a lot about global health," Williams stated. Her experiences playing internationally have influenced her focus on healthcare access and women's health.

These athletes exemplify how sports can coexist with academic pursuits, serving as role models for future generations.
