Homeless Solutions Business Update and Citywide Food Drive

Tempe has deepened its commitment to our homeless response and we want to provide an update for our business community.

Spend an hour with us on Friday, Nov. 4 to get solutions for your staff, your customers and your bottom line.

Attend the Nov. 4 Homeless Solutions Business Update

Hear what the City of Tempe is doing to address homelessness and learn how to react to situations near or at your business. You will leave with tools you can use at your business as well as a care package. You can also register for the Tempe Citywide Food and Necessities Drive.

Join Mayor Corey Woods, representatives of Downtown Tempe Authority, Tempe Chamber of Commerce, Tempe Economic Development and Tempe Tourism Office  on Friday, Nov. 4 at 8 a.m. for breakfast treats and a panel discussion featuring:

  • Chief Jeff Glover and Commander Kim Hale, Tempe Police Department
  • Jessica Wright, HOPE, Homeless Solutions Manager
  • Kris Scharlau, CARE 7, Human Services Manager
  • Paul Bentley, Deputy Human Services Director
  • Wydale Holmes, Tempe Strategic Initiatives Manager

Be a donation location for Tempe's Citywide Food Drive

One way we can keep our community strong is to help people avoid homelessness. Tempe's nonprofits and the city's Human Services programs keep people clothed, housed and healthy every day. Our Citywide Food and Necessities Drive will provide much-needed food, hygiene products and monetary donations to keep families afloat while also caring for those who are unsheltered.

We know your business cares. Show the community that you are part of the solution by becoming a registered donation location. Sign up to be included in our published donation drop-off list and to have your donations picked up by a City of Tempe crew.

Get your supplies

We'll provide everything you need from labeled donation boxes to posters for your windows. We'll also provide social media graphics you can use and free donation pickup. Visit tempe.gov/CitywideFoodDrive.

Get your boxes at either the Nov. 4 Homeless Solutions Business Update (details shown above) or at Downtown Tempe Authority, One W. Rio Salado Parkway.

Showcase your business while doing good

Your business will receive mention on our website and in email marketing as a donation drop-off location. Select businesses may also be mentioned in social media or in media opportunities as they are presented. Be sure to tag us at @tempegov  on Instagram and Twitter in your social media posts and feel free to email photos of your food drive efforts to CMR@tempe.gov.

Easy pickup

Our Municipal Utilities team will bring a truck to your location during office hours on either Monday, Nov. 14 or Tuesday, Nov. 15, depending on your address, to pick up donations. You won't need to haul the generosity of our community on your own. We've got you covered!

Who benefits?

Tempe Community Action Agency, Threadz, CARE 7 and HOPE will receive the donations. Our whole community will benefit from the generosity. Learn more about these organizations at tempe.gov/CitywideFoodDrive.
