The Gilbert Police Department arrested 36-year-old Dennis Fernando Pacheco on Tuesday, June 20th, for charges related to his alleged involvement in the stabbing of 22-year-old Isaiah Panez that occurred during the early morning hours of Sunday, June 18th, 2023.

Gilbert Police Officers had responded to the parking lot on the southwest corner of N Ash Street and W Vaughn Avenue, where Panez was found with multiple stab wounds after an alleged altercation with Pacheco.  Panez was transported to the hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
Gilbert PD's Criminal Investigation Division's tireless efforts led to the arrest of Pacheco in Tempe, after a thorough analysis of collected evidence.  Pacheco was booked into the custody of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office for one (1) count of A.R.S. § 13-1104(A)(2) Second Degree Murder.
We would like to remind the public that charged offenses are merely allegations. All defendants are presumed innocent until pleading guilty or being found guilty.
