The Gilbert Council Subcommittee on Teen Violence will be holding its second meeting on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at the Southeast Regional Library in Gilbert, Arizona. The subcommittee was formed in response to the increasing incidents of teen violence in the town and aims to develop and implement community-wide solutions.

According to Vice Mayor Scott Anderson, the subcommittee's goal is to go beyond just listening and focus on taking action. He stated, "The subcommittee will be more than a listening group. It will focus on bringing forth actionable items, such as possible legislative policy changes, enhanced partnerships with organizations serving and interacting with youth, and a survey of Gilbert students."

During the previous meeting, the Subcommittee on Teen Violence provided an update to the Gilbert Town Council on their progress. Vice Mayor Anderson assured the Council and attendees that the subcommittee is committed to making a difference. He also mentioned that they will be working on expanding the scope of their work and making recommendations to the Gilbert Town Council.

The meeting on January 31 will be attended by Vice Mayor Scott Anderson and Council members Chuck Bongiovanni and Jim Torgeson. They will be discussing the items listed on the meeting's agenda, and there may also be an opportunity for public comment.

Residents of Gilbert who are interested in attending the meeting can find parking at the lots on Guadalupe and Greenfield Roads. For those who are unable to attend, meeting information will be available through Gilbert's council agenda e-newsletter, the town's community calendar, and the meeting agendas on the official website.

The Gilbert Council Subcommittee on Teen Violence is taking a proactive approach to address the issue of teen violence in the community. By bringing together community leaders and stakeholders, they are working towards finding effective solutions and making the town a safer place for its residents, particularly its youth.
